Summary:
In this study,six 3-methyl-6-(2-substitued aminopropanoly)-2-benzoxazolinones
and their reduction products were screened for their antibacterial
and antifungal activities. The minimum inhibition concentration(MIC)values
of the compounds were determined by the broth microdilution
method using two Gram positive(Staphyiococcus areus ATCC
25923, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212),two Gram negative(Escherichia
coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853)bacteria
and yeast-like fungi Candida albicans ATCC 90028, Candida
krusei ATCC 6258, Candida parapsilosis ATCC 22019).None
of the compounds were found to be active against both
Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.3-methyl-6-(1-hydroxy-2-morpholinopropyl)-2-benzoxazolinone
(Compound III)which possesses remarkable activity againts
Candida krusei was found to be the most active compound
in this serices.
