Summary
Verbascum species (Scrophulariaceae), which are widespread
plants in Anatolia, are used as expectorant and mucolytic
in folk medicine. In this paper, the chemical constituents
of saponins, iridoid and phenylethanoid glycosides, monoterpene
glucoside, neolignan glucosides, flavonoids, steroids, spermine
alkaloids and other compounds of these species are reviewed.
