Summary:
Two iridoid glucosides;ajugol and ajugoside were isolated
from the aerial parts of Sideritis lycia Boiss.&Heldr.
The structural elucidation of these compounds were achieved
by chemical (UV,IR,1H and 13C-NMR).Antimicrobial activity
of ajugol was investigated by microdilution method. Bacillus
subtilis ATCC 6633, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923,
Escherichia coli ATCC 25882, Pseudomonas aeruginosa RSKK
356 were used as bacteria and Candida albicans ATCC 64550
and Cryptococcus neoformans as yeastlike fungi.
