BIOAVAILABILITY FILE: TEICOPLANIN

Summary:
Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic having a complex molecular structure with 6 major components.It is currently used in the theraphy of skin and soft tissue infections, bacteremia, infective endocarditis, catheter, bone and joint infections caused by gram positive microorganisms.Teicoplanin has been presented as an alternative antibiotic to vancomycin due to its safety and efficacy.In this review, teicoplanin’s physicochemical properties, assay methods, pharmacogical and pharmacokinetic properties and bioavailability are discussed.
