Summary:
The incidence of brain tumors increased dramatically in
recent years. Brain tumor is the second major cause of
neurologic deaths and causes 2 percent of all cancer deaths.The
overall median survival time after treatment of brain
tumors with surgery and radiation therapy is eight to
nine months. Therefore, research efforts are expanding
to find new methods for the treatment of these patients.In
this review, recent developments in immunotherapy , gene
therapy, phototherapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and
implants for drug delivery to brain tumors are discussed,
and recent literature on the treatment of brain tumors
is presented.
